ABSTRACT - 5G Mobile network has a broad vision and envisages design targets that include high peak data rate, high network capacity, excellent energy efficiency, and low latency. In achieving these expectations, metro and small cells are installed to improve user experience and overall network performance.
The lecture will overview the emerging optical communication technologies; it will focus on optical access solutions for next-generation (5G) wireless network. Promising applications of optical communication technologies in future 5G wireless networks will be discussed. Cost effective intensity modulation and direct detection transmission for low-latency wireless backhaul networks will be reviewed.
